Sludge, Hardcore, Grindcore, Doom from Hull, United Kingdom.

Mastiff are a quintet from Hull, a self-styled “miserable band from a miserable town” playing a combination of doom, sludge and aggressive hardcore. As with all the best bands Mastiff forged its reputation in a live setting by playing every dive and shithole in and around East Yorkshire, honing its craft and making their songs ever more miserable, dirty and heavy.

As word spread about the five-piece they began to pick up support slots with ever more reputable bands: Agnostic Front, Crowbar, Conan and Biohazard. In 2016 Mastiff self-released an eight track album entitled “Wrank”. Recorded and mixed in two days in February of that year it was a ferocious DIY statement of intent which matched the rabid intensity of their live shows.

The group continued to gig relentlessly and started to pick up a following beyond their hometown. BORK. A six track, 25 minute EP it was again recorded, mixed and mastered in a two day period at the beginning of July 2017. Everything about BORK puts debut album Wrank in the shade. It’s heavier, slower, faster, more brutal and intense. BORK was released through APF Records in August 2017.

Following the release of BORK, Mastiff played further high profile gigs including Riff-Fest, Desertfest London and a support slot for Iron Monkey’s hometown performance in Nottingham in April 2018. Mastiff were in the studio again in July 2018 and from this session emerged ‘Plague’, their vilest release to date.

Mixing sludge, hardcore and elements of grindcore, this aural assault is their most punishing release to date. ‘Plague’ and was again, released, again through APF in February 2019 to a large amount of acclaim.
